Screamfest LA Horror Film

Ghost
Expeditions, recently re-instituted by the ISPR in October
2004, is a new sponsor of the 5th Annual Screamfest LA Horror
Film Festival & Screenplay Competition. Screamfest LA, the
largest genre film festival held in Los Angeles, is an internationally
recognized showcase for independent filmmakers and writers of
the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres.
Screamfest Horror Film Festival takes place October 14th through
October 23rd at Loew's Universal Studios Cinemas at Universal
CityWalk with Winners announced at the Screamfest Dinner Awards
Ceremony the evening of October 23, 2005 at Maggiano's in The
Grove.
Rachel Belofsky, president and founder of Screamfest LA Horror
Film Festival and partner, Oscar winning special effects master,
Stan Winston (The Terminator, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Edward
Scissorhands), have seen the festival explode in popularity
in a very short period of time. "We are very excited to have
the opportunity to celebrate the work of the finest young talent
working in these extremely popular genres," says Belofsky. "This
competition provides them with the exposure they so richly deserve
and gives audiences the chance to experience their work in a
first-class setting."
Judges for the competition include such notable names as director
Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist);
creative executive Jeff Katz at New Line Cinema; development
executive Michael Grady; Alex Franklin, Director of Development
of Lions Gate Films and David Kopple, motion picture literary
agent for the Gersh Agency. Animation category will be judged
by Animation Executives at Threshold Entertainment, 20th Century
Fox Feature Animation, and Nickelodeon Films.
Screamfest Horror Film Festival possesses an all-star Advisory
Board including West Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street),
Roy Lee (The Ring), John Carpenter (Halloween),
Tobe Hooper, Sean Cunningham (Friday the 13th), Eli Roth
(Cabin Fever) and John Landis (An American Werewolf
in London) and Stan Winston (10-time Oscar Nominee / 4-time
Oscar Winner).
Ghost Expeditions creator, field Parapsychologist Dr. Larry
Montz and producing partner Daena Smoller, won the Best Horror
Documentary Award at the 2002 Screamfest Horror Film Festival
for (1999 produced) ISPR Investigates Ghosts of Belgrave
Hall. The duo's 2003 documentary, New Orleans Rich &
Haunted, enjoyed a premiere screening at Screamfest in 2004.
